The term “Smart Grid” means different things to different people. Some take the term more literally and believe it means making the physical grid (i.e., transmission and power lines) operate and communicate in a more effective and efficient manner via technology, computers, and software. Others see the term more holistically as meaning a concept of making the entire process from generating electricity through transmission and distribution to the actual consumers choosing to turn on an appliance more effective and efficient.
