Terms and Conditions

By using the Smart Grid Learning Institute (SGLI) websites, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions").

 

Ownership and Use of Content

The SGLI websites and all of its content (text and graphics), except for external information and websites loaded onto the SGLI websites, is owned and copyrighted by SGLI.  You may only use the SGLI content for your own personal, non-commercial use.  You are strictly prohibited from using or distributing any content to others for any other reason without the express written permission of SGLI.  You may not display, reformat, or mirror information from SGLI on your website. If you want to make commercial use of SGLI’s websites or services you must enter into an agreement with SGLI to do so in advance. SGLI reserves all other rights.

 

You are prohibited from posting any inappropriate material and from posting any advertisements on SGLI websites.  We reserve the right to determine what is inappropriate and remove it from our websites.

 

All comments, suggestions, ideas, notes, drawings, concepts, or other information offered to SGLI through SGLI websites or in response to solicitations in these websites shall be the property of SGLI, unless SGLI has a signed agreement stating otherwise. By submitting such suggestions, ideas, or other information, you consent to its use by SGLI and acknowledge you are not entitled to any form of compensation.   

 

Changes in Terms and Conditions

We may modify or terminate our services and items on our websites from time to time, for any reason, and without notice, including the right to terminate with or without notice, without liability to you, any other user or any third party. We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions from time to time without notice. Please review these Terms and Conditions from time to time so that you will be apprised of any changes.

 

Intellectual Property Policy

Disclaimer of Warranties

The SGLI websites and/or services, and all materials, information, products and services included in the SGLI websites and/or services are provided "as is," with no warranties whatsoever.  SGLI expressly disclaims to the fullest extent permitted by law all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement of proprietary rights. SGLI disclaims any warranties regarding the security, reliability, timeliness, and performance of the SGLI websites and/or services. SGLI disclaims any warranties for any information or advice obtained through the SGLI websites and/or services. SGLI disclaims any warranties for its websites and/or services or goods received through or advertised on the SGLI websites and/or services or received through any links provided by the SGLI websites and/or services, as well as for any information or advice received through any links provided in the SGLI websites and/or services.

By providing your e-mail address and personal information, you give SGLI permission to correspond with you through e-mail, direct mail, or otherwise for any purpose including and not limited to classes, products, or advertisements. You understand that all e-mail correspondence is provided on an "as-is" basis, and may be opted-out at any time. Opting out may or may not stop free services to the registered e-mail, at SGLI’s sole discretion.

 

Some states or other jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. You may also have other rights that vary from state to state and jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

 

Limitation of Liability

Under no circumstances shall SGLI and its websites and/or services be liable to any user on account of that user's use or misuse of or reliance on the SGLI websites and/or services. Arising from any claim relating to this agreement or the subject matter hereof such limitation of liability shall apply to prevent recovery of direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, and punitive damages whether such claim is based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, (even if SGLI and its websites and/or services have been advised of the possibility of such damages). Such limitation of liability shall apply whether the damages arise from use or misuse of and reliance on the SGLI websites and/or services, from inability to use the SGLI websites and/or services, or from the interruption, suspension, or termination of the SGLI websites and/or services (including such damages incurred by third parties). This limitation shall also apply with respect to damages incurred by reason of other services or goods received through or advertised on the SGLI websites and/or services or received through any links provided in the SGLI websites and/or services, as well as by reason of any information or advice received through or advertised on the SGLI websites and/or services or received through any links provided in the SGLI websites and/or services. This limitation shall also apply, without limitation, to the costs of procurement of substitute goods or services, lost profits, or lost data. Such limitation shall further apply with respect to the performance or non-performance of the SGLI websites and/or services or any information or merchandise that appears on, or is linked or related in any way to, the SGLI websites and/or services. Such limitation shall apply notwithstanding any failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy and to the fullest extent permitted by law.

 

Without limiting the foregoing, under no circumstances shall SGLI and its websites and/or services be held liable for any delay or failure in performance resulting directly or indirectly from acts of nature, forces, or causes beyond its reasonable control, including, without limitation, internet failures, computer equipment failures, telecommunication equipment failures, other equipment failures, electrical power failures, strikes, labor disputes, riots, insurrections, civil disturbances, shortages of labor or materials, fires, floods, storms, explosions, acts of God, war, governmental actions, orders of domestic or foreign courts or tribunals, non-performance of third parties, or loss of or fluctuations in heat, light, or air conditioning.

 

Requests for Removal of Information from SGLI Websites or Services

If you are an external company website that we provide a link to and you would like your information, website, or images removed from our files, please send an email to info@smartgridlearninginstitute.com. Our intent is to compile and provide information about Smart Grids and to expose those looking for information to the many resources available.  All reasonable requests to remove information will be adhered to promptly.

 

Miscellaneous Provisions

These Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without giving effect to its conflict of laws, provisions, or your actual state or country of residence. If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision or portion of the Terms and Conditions to be unenforceable, the remainder of the Terms and Conditions will continue in full force and effect.

 

These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes and replaces all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. Any waiver of any provision of the Terms and Conditions will be effective only if in writing and signed by SGLI.

 

 

Privacy Policy

Smart Grid Learning Institute (SGLI), owner and operator of www.smartgridlearninginstitute.com and the SGLI brand, understands and respects your concerns about privacy.  The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for SGLI.

 

Registration Information

In general, we will not collect information from you unless you are voluntarily registering via an online form on our websites, registering for a class, or joining our social networking communities.  Our website's registration form may require users to give us contact information (e.g., name, physical address, email address, etc.) and demographic information (e.g., job title, company size, etc.). We use member contact information from the registration form to send members information about our classes and services. If your information is collected, it will not be sold to or shared with any other parties unless it is required by law.

 

Demographic and profile data is also collected at our websites. We use this data to tailor the member's experience on our websites and in our classes and services. The SGLI websites are intended for adults.  We will not knowingly gather or use information for individuals younger than 13.

 

Members may opt-out of receiving future e-mailings by sending an email to info@smartgridlearninginstitute.com.  

 

Order Information

Our websites use an order form for users to request or purchase information, products, and services. We collect user’s contact information (like their email address) and financial information (like their account or credit card numbers). This information is also used to get in touch with the user when necessary. Any financial information gathered is used only to bill the user for products and services.

 

Other Websites

Our websites contain links to other websites that either take you to an external website or load the external website within the SGLI websites. SGLI is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.  Please make sure you agree with these websites’ terms before you decide to use these websites.  

 

Public Forums

The SGLI websites makes forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information or any other information.  

 

Analytics

In order to better our websites, we use analytical tools and tracking systems such as IP address logging, cookies, or tags that tell us where visitors spend the most time, what areas of the country our customers are in, and in general, how useful the websites are.  This information can also help us resolve problems associated with our servers.  We will not capture personally identifiable information about users or attempt to correlate a user’s actions with any personally identifiable information.
